The International Planned Parenthood Federation is a worldwide organisation working to protect everyone’s right to a free, safe and autonomous reproductive life. IPPF was founded in 1952 and works in 170 countries across the world to empower women, men and young people, particularly the most vulnerable, to exercise their reproductive rights and access needed healthcare and education.
IPPF’s European Network is the Federation’s network covering Europe and Central Asia. We advocate on a regional level, including at both the EU and Council of Europe, for greater protection of human rights, improved access to health care and an international development focus on the rights of women and on reproductive health care. In addition to this, we work with our local partners and affiliates to implement the projects that local communities often desperately need to protect health, rights and dignity. Our areas of work cover a wide array of sexual health and reproductive rights issues, protecting the rights of women and girls, combatting the spread of HIV/AIDS, promoting increased access to health care in vulnerable communities and helping to ensure that gender equality remains a focus throughout Europe and Central Asia.
