Agir Ensemble pour les Droits humains works for the defence of fundamental rights and freedoms. Since its creation in 1992, its mandate has been to promote the rights and freedoms enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other foundational texts, in particular the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the African Charter for Human and People’s Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights, the American Convention on Human Rights (San José Accord), and the Convention against Torture all over the world. AEDH is convinced that local groups working on ‘the front line’ are the most capable of defending the fundamental rights in the context that is theirs. Our organisation supports these local groups by providing financial, technical and material assistance for the implementation of their projects. Since 2002, AEDH has granted € 1.1 million from its own capital on field activities implemented by local HROs. More than € 500,000 were given to sub-Saharan African organisations promoting the rights of the most vulnerable. Since 1999, AEDH has implemented an emergency fund for human rights defenders in danger. 350 persons have benefited from this fund so far. For more information, please contact Thibaud Kurtz
